Tuner, MP3 and unplugged Yahama radio tuner

Tuner (2014) is a sound piece that emanates from the innards of an unplugged radio tuner. All the moments of disfluency (uhm’s and ah’s) in an interview with a renowned philosopher are isolated and strung together into one audio track, resembling an abstract piece of music not unlike the alien melodies one can hear when turning the dial of a radio tuner. The work focuses on human limitations to express or explain abstract things and revels in the almost imperceptible pauses, hesitations and repetitions inherent within speech, which are usually edited from written forms.
