Ballon Rouge presents A Room with a View, a solo exhibition by Helen Anna Flanagan. The works in this exhibition form a constellation centred on the idea of vacation, as a point of entry and a means of escape into alternative worlds and hallucinatory landscapes. Drawing from the photographic cliché of the holiday snapshot and the tourist postcard, the exhibition reflects on processes of image-making, representation, projection, and interpretation. Through motifs of water and sun, and the use of saturated colour and texture, the gallery space is transformed into an island—a removed, self-contained environment to be inhabited at a leisurely pace.
